In Monday's league battle, the host Polk County Wolverines soccer squad scored a close 1-0 win over the R-S Central Hilltoppers.
With the victory, Polk County moves its record to 4-3 on the year. The Wolverines travel to Smoky Mountain (Sylva, NC) to confront the Mustangs in a non-league bout on Wednesday, September 20. The Mustangs enter the bout with a record of 1-7. Smoky Mountain lost 2-0 in their recent league bout against West Henderson (Hendersonville, NC)
In their next game, the Hilltoppers confront the Patton Panthers (Morganton, NC) in a Mountain Foothills Seven 2A bout, on Wednesday, September 20. R-S Central will attempt to move on its 1-4 season record. The Panthers enter the bout with a 9-0 record after their 9-0 league win over East Rutherford (Forest City, NC).
