Fans at Thursday's league contest between the Sparta Spartans (Sparta, MI) and the visiting Kenowa Hills Knights (Grand Rapids, MI), observed Sparta's volleyball team hold off Kenowa Hills by a tally of 2-1.

The Spartans (6-7) will now prepare for their contest against Greenville (Greenville, MI). The Yellow Jackets enter the River Cities Alliance contest with a 11-6 record. In their last contest, Greenville was tipped by Ionia (Ionia, MI), 3-0, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Knights meet the Whitehall Vikings (Whitehall, MI) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, September 20. Kenowa Hills will attempt to upgrade on its 2-11 season record. The Vikings go into the test with a 0-13 record after their 3-0 league loss to Oakridge (Muskegon, MI).
