Smithfield-Selma Spartans (Smithfield, NC) fans were pleased Monday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting Fike Demons (Wilson, NC), 2-1 in a league challenge.

Next, the Spartans confront the West Johnston Wildcats (Benson, NC) in a Quad County 3A challenge, on Wednesday, September 21. Smithfield-Selma will attempt to better on its 2-7 season record. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a 0-9 record after their 2-1 league loss to East Wake (Wendell, NC).

The Demons now have a 3-5 record. They take the field next when they host C.B. Aycock for a Quad County 3A challenge on Wednesday, September 21. Fike will confront a Golden Falcons team coming off a 5-1 league win over South Johnston (Four Oaks, NC). The Golden Falcons record now stands at 7-1.
