East Carter Redbirds (Ellsinore, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Van Buren Bulldogs (Van Buren, MO), 9-6 in a non-league challenge.

The Redbirds now own a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Poplar Bluff for a non-league challenge on Thursday, September 21. East Carter will battle a Mules squad coming off a 9-8 league loss to Jackson (Jackson, MO). The Mules record now stands at 5-6.

With the loss, Van Buren falls to 3-4 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Naylor (Naylor, MO) to battle the Eagles in a Class 1 District 1 challenge on Monday, September 25. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 0-10. Naylor lost 24-0 in their recent league challenge against Van Buren (Van Buren, MO)
