Match Summary
West Johnston lost a hard fought match tonight against a motivated South Johnston team, who came out with its best punch possible. West survived the initial onslaught and settled in nicely, though South ultimately prevailed in the 1st set 23 - 25, a back & forth nail biter. South came out fast in the 2nd set as well and easily won that frame 19 - 25. A determined Wildcat team easily outpaced the Trojans in the 3rd set 25 - 17, showing a resilience and never give up mindset. South got out to a quick lead in the 4th and had seemingly put away the match with the score 17 - 24; however, the Lady Wildcats would not go away easily and showed real grit, staving off 6 consecutive match points before finally succumbing to the Trojan girls 23 - 25. Tonight's loss puts the West Johnston and South Johnston girls tied atop the conference standings with 1 loss each. Next up is Rocky Mount tomorrow night.
