In Thursday's non-league challenge, the visiting Essex Trojans volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the Charles City Panthers.

The Trojans (5-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Mathews (Mathews, VA). The Blue Devils come into the non-league challenge with a 1-6 record. In their last challenge, Mathews lost by Middlesex (Saluda, VA), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Panthers play the Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, September 23. Charles City will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 0-7 record after their 3-0 league loss to Greensville County (Emporia, VA).
