The Spurger Pirates volleyball team (Spurger, TX), was beaten 3-1 in Friday's non-league contest with the visiting Goodrich Hornets (Goodrich, TX)

The Hornets (5-10) will now prepare for their contest against Chester (Chester, TX). The Yellowjackets go into the 1A Region IV District 26 test with a 19-13 record. In their last test, Chester beat Apple Springs (Apple Springs, TX), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Pirates meet the Burkeville Mustangs (Burkeville, TX) in a 1A Region IV District 25 test, on Tuesday, September 23. Spurger will attempt to improve on its 0-8 season record.
