Fans at Friday's league contest between the Newburgh Free Academy Goldbacks (Newburgh, NY) and the visiting Middletown Middie Bears (Middletown, NY), observed Newburgh Free Academy's volleyball team top Middletown by a tally of 3-1.

The Goldbacks (4-2) will now prepare for their contest against Monroe-Woodbury (Central Valley, NY). The Crusaders enter the Section 9 Orange County I contest with a 3-6 record. In their last contest, Monroe-Woodbury was beaten by Pine Bush (Pine Bush, NY), 3-0, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Middie Bears encounter the Valley Central Vikings (Montgomery, NY) in a non-league test, on Friday, September 26. Middletown will attempt to improve on its 0-6 season record. The Vikings go into the test with a 7-1 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Kingston (Kingston, NY).
