Newton Rams (Covington, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host South Gwinnett Comets (Snellville, GA), 12-7 in a league challenge.

The Rams now own a 2-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Archer for a 7A Region 4 challenge on Thursday, September 22. Newton will face a Tigers squad coming off a 13-5 league loss to Grayson (Loganville, GA). The Tigers record now stands at 8-8.

With the loss, South Gwinnett falls to 2-8 on the campaign. The Comets host Discovery (Lawrenceville, GA) to face the Titans in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, September 21. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 2-12. Discovery won 13-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Berkmar (Lilburn, GA)
