The Mecklenburg County Phoenix topped the visiting Bassett Bengals volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Thursday's league test.

The Phoenix now have a 7-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Halifax County for a Piedmont test on Monday, September 25. Mecklenburg County will confront a Comets team coming off a 3-2 non-league win over Heritage (Lynchburg, VA). The Comets record now stands at 8-6.

The Bengals (6-6) will now prepare for their test against Chatham (Chatham, VA). The Cavaliers enter the non-league test with a 2-7 record. In their last test, Chatham was knocked off by Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA), 3-0, in a league test.
