In Saturday's non-league challenge, the visiting The Dalles Riverhawks volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Newport Cubs.

The Riverhawks (4-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Baker (Baker City, OR). The Bulldogs come into the non-league challenge with a 2-8 record. In their last challenge, Baker was nudged by Pendleton (Pendleton, OR), 3-1, in a league challenge.

Next, the Cubs meet the La Grande Tigers (La Grande, OR) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, September 21. Newport will attempt to upgrade on its 2-7 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 2-6 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Stanfield (Stanfield, OR).
