The Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane softball team scored 23 runs and limited the visiting Sumter County Panthers to 6 in the Purple Hurricane league triumph on Thursday.

With the triumph, Fitzgerald improves its record to 3-13 on the year. The Purple Hurricane host Jeff Davis (Hazlehurst, GA) to clash with the Yellowjackets in a 2A Region 1 game on Tuesday, September 27. The Yellowjackets come into the game with a record of 16-1. Jeff Davis won 10-0 in their recent non-league game against Vidalia (Vidalia, GA)

In their next game, the Panthers clash with the Cook Hornets (Adel, GA) in a 2A Region 1 game, on Tuesday, September 27. Sumter County will attempt to improve on its 2-15 season record. The Hornets come into the game with a 10-6 record after their 3-2 league loss to Dodge County (Eastman, GA).
