Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA) backers exited the stadium pleased Monday as they witnessed their volleyball team run past the visiting Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA), 2-0 in a non-league outing.

The Blue Devils now have a 1-2 record. They play next when they host Northampton for a non-league outing on Tuesday, September 23. Mathews will play a Yellowjackets team coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Lancaster (Lancaster, VA). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 1-3.

The Trojans (2-6) will now prepare for their game against Westmoreland (Montross, VA). The Eagles go into the non-league game with a 3-0 record. In their last game, Westmoreland gained a win over Arcadia (Oak Hall, VA), 2-0, in a non-league game.
