In Monday's non-league challenge, the visiting Labette County Grizzlies volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Fredonia Yellowjackets.

The Grizzlies (6-13) will now prepare for their challenge against Independence (Independence, KS). The Bulldogs come into the Southeast Kansas challenge with a 7-8 record. In their last challenge, Independence edged Fort Scott (Fort Scott, KS), 2-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Yellowjackets meet the Cherryvale Chargers (Cherryvale, KS) in a Tri-Valley test, on Tuesday, September 23. Fredonia will attempt to advance on its 5-13 season record. The Chargers go into the test with a 2-15 record after their 2-0 non-league win over West Elk (Howard, KS).
