Virginia High School Volleyball - Grassfield can't hold off Oscar Smith

The Oscar Smith Tigers (Chesapeake, VA) volleyball held off the visiting Grassfield Grizzlies (Chesapeake, VA), 3-2 in Tuesday's league bout.

The Tigers now possess a 4-5 record. They play next when they travel to Nansemond River for a Southeastern bout on Thursday, September 25. Oscar Smith will clash with a Warriors team coming off a 3-0 league win over King's Fork (Suffolk, VA). The Warriors record now stands at 2-5.

With the loss, Grassfield falls to 6-4 on the year. The Grizzlies travel to King's Fork (Suffolk, VA) to battle the Bulldogs in a Southeastern contest on Thursday, September 25. The Bulldogs enter the contest with a record of 2-4. King's Fork lost 3-0 in their recent league contest against Nansemond River (Suffolk, VA)

Oscar Smith girls volleyball team (5–5) upset Grassfield with a reverse sweep 3–2 (16–25, 18–25, 25–23, 25-22, 15–13). Smith’s senior leadership prevailed with Lilian Hunsberger’s 15 kills and 23 digs, Amari Chaney’s 16 assists and Alisha Brown’s 27 digs. In addition, Junior Sophia Flores had 14 digs. As a team, Smith recorded 11 aces and 23 blocks. Aggressive attacks and tenacious defensive plays won the game.
