The Sumter Fighting Gamecocks (Sumter, SC) football overcame the host St. James Sharks (Murrells Inlet, SC), 33-14 in Friday's league bout.

In their next game, the Fighting Gamecocks face the Socastee Braves (Myrtle Beach, SC) in a AAAAA Region 6 bout, on Friday, October 1. Sumter will attempt to move on its 4-1 season record. The Braves enter the bout with a 0-2 record after their 27-24 non-league loss to Whiteville (Whiteville, NC).

The Sharks (3-1) will now prepare for their bout against Conway (Conway, SC). The Tigers enter the AAAAA Region 6 bout with a 1-1 record. In their last bout, Conway thwarted Carolina Forest (Myrtle Beach, SC), 33-14, in a league bout.
