Fans at Thursday's non-league contest between the Newport Wildcats (Newport, KY) and the host Holmes Bulldogs (Covington, KY), observed Newport's volleyball team hold off Holmes by a tally of 2-1.

The Wildcats (1-4) will now prepare for their contest against Heritage Academy (Florence, KY). The Eagles enter the non-league contest with a 2-1 record. In their last test, Heritage Academy tipped Holmes (Covington, KY), 2-1, in a non-league test.

The Bulldogs now own a 3-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Villa Madonna for a non-league test on Tuesday, September 30.
