In Thursday's league challenge, the host Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Mary Star of the Sea Stars.

The Cardinals (16-8) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Monica (Santa Monica, CA). The Mariners come into the Camino Real challenge with a 10-15 record. In their last test, St. Monica was edged by Paraclete (Lancaster, CA), 3-1, in a league test.

The Stars now sport a 9-14 record. They play next when they host Culver City for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 26. Mary Star of the Sea will play a Centaurs team coming off a 3-1 non-league loss to Basha (Chandler, AZ). The Centaurs record now stands at 7-9.
