In Friday's league challenge, the host Carlsbad Lancers volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the La Costa Canyon Mavericks.

The Lancers (11-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Rancho Bernardo (San Diego, CA). The Broncos come into the challenge with a 2-0 record. In their last challenge, Rancho Bernardo edged Granite Hills (El Cajon, CA), 2-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Mavericks meet the Carlsbad Lancers (Carlsbad, CA) in a challenge, on Wednesday, October 16. La Costa Canyon will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.
