Fans at Friday's league battle between the Saranac Spartans (Saranac, NY) and the host Northeastern Clinton Cougars (Champlain, NY), saw Saranac's soccer squad hold off Northeastern Clinton by a count of 2-1.

The Spartans (5-1) will now prepare for their battle against Plattsburgh (Plattsburgh, NY). The Hornets enter the Northern battle with a 7-1 record. In their last battle, Plattsburgh tipped AuSable Valley (Clintonville, NY), 8-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Cougars battle the Peru Nighthawks (Peru, NY) in a Northern battle, on Tuesday, October 1. Northeastern Clinton will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record.
