Archbishop Mitty Monarchs (San Jose, CA) backers were pleased Saturday as they witnessed their volleyball team tip the host Menlo-Atherton Bears (Atherton, CA), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Monarchs (3-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (San Francisco, CA). The Fightin' Irish come into the test with a 18-1 record.

The Bears now sport a 7-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Carlmont for a non-league test on Saturday, September 27. Menlo-Atherton will face a Scots squad coming off a 2-0 league win over Woodside (Woodside, CA). The Scots record now stands at 7-3.
