Washington Academy Raiders (East Machias, ME) fans were thrilled Thursday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the visiting Calais Blue Devils (Calais, ME), 8-1 in a league challenge.

Next, the Raiders face the Orono Riots (Orono, ME) in a Class C - North challenge, on Saturday, September 30. Washington Academy will attempt to better on its 5-2 season record. The Riots enter the challenge with a 1-4 record after their 6-2 league loss to Foxcroft Academy (Dover-Foxcroft, ME).

The Blue Devils now have a 3-3 record. They take the field next when they host Mattanawcook for a Class C - North challenge on Tuesday, October 3. Calais will face a Lynx team coming off a 5-1 non-league win over Hodgdon (Hodgdon, ME). The Lynx record now stands at 1-4.
