The West Iron County Wykons felled the visiting Gwinn Modeltowners football team by a score of 24-16 in Saturday's league challenge.

In their next game, the Wykons play the Manistique Emeralds (Manistique, MI) in a Western Peninsula - Iron challenge, on Friday, October 4. West Iron County will attempt to improve on its 2-3 season record. The Emeralds go into the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 40-0 league loss to Bark River-Harris (Harris, MI).

The Modeltowners (2-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Iron Mountain (Iron Mountain, MI). The Mountaineers go into the Western Peninsula - Iron challenge with a 5-0 record. In their last challenge, Iron Mountain toppled L'Anse (L'Anse, MI), 63-8, in a league challenge.
