St. Anthony's Friars (Melville, NY) fans were thrilled Thursday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host St. John the Baptist Cougars (West Islip, NY), 2-1 in a league challenge.

Next, the Friars face the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds (Uniondale, NY) in a NSCHAA challenge, on Tuesday, October 4. St. Anthony's will attempt to better on its 2-0 season record. The Firebirds enter the challenge with a 7-5 record after their 0-0 non-league New Hyde Park Memorial (New Hyde Park, NY).

The Cougars now have a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host St. Dominic for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, October 4. St. John the Baptist will face a Crusaders team coming off a 3-2 non-league loss to Christian Brothers (St. Louis, MO). The Crusaders record now stands at 4-7.
