Excelsior Springs Tigers (Excelsior Springs, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Winnetonka Griffins (Kansas City, MO), 4-3 in a league challenge.

The Tigers now own a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Kansas City for a non-league challenge on Saturday, October 1. Excelsior Springs will face a Hornets squad coming off a 13-2 non-league loss to Truman (Independence, MO). The Hornets record now stands at 1-5.

With the loss, Winnetonka falls to 0-3 on the campaign.
