Fans at Monday's non-league contest between the Priest River Spartans (Priest River, ID) and the host Newport Grizzlies (Newport, WA), observed Priest River's volleyball team hold off Newport by a count of 2-1.

The Spartans (1-1) will now prepare for their contest against Kellogg (Kellogg, ID). The Wildcats enter the battle with a 2-0 record. In their last battle, Kellogg tipped Wallace (Wallace, ID), 3-0, in a non-league battle.

The Grizzlies now own a 5-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Chewelah for a non-league contest on Tuesday, September 30. Newport will meet a Cougars team coming off a 4-1 non-league loss to Davenport (Davenport, WA). The Cougars record now stands at 3-4.
