Fans at Tuesday's league contest between the Lake Hornets (Lake, MS) and the visiting Newton Tigers (Newton, MS), observed Lake's volleyball team top Newton by a count of 3-0.

The Hornets (10-7) will now prepare for their contest against Scott Central (Forest, MS). The Rebels enter the Class 2A Region 5 contest with a 6-9 record. In their last contest, Scott Central was knocked off by Pelahatchie (Pelahatchie, MS), 3-2, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Tigers meet the Morton Panthers (Morton, MS) in a non-league contest, on Monday, September 9. Newton will attempt to move on its 0-1 season record. The Panthers enter the contest with a 6-6 record after their 3-0 league loss to Northeast Jones (Laurel, MS).
