Fans at Wednesday's league contest between the Gatewood Gators (Eatonton, GA) and the host John Hancock Academy Rebels (Sparta, GA), observed Gatewood's volleyball team hold off John Hancock Academy by a count of 3-2.

The Gators (2-4) will now prepare for their contest against Jasper County (Monticello, GA). The Hurricanes enter the non-league contest with a 6-5 record. In their last contest, Jasper County got by Central Fellowship Christian Academy (Macon, GA), 3-0, in a non-league contest.

Next, the Rebels battle the Augusta Prep Cavaliers (Augusta, GA) in a GIAA 4AA contest, on Thursday, September 4. John Hancock Academy will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record. The Cavaliers go into the battle with a 8-7 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Westside (Augusta, GA).
