The Benton Cardinals softball team scored 18 runs and limited the host DeKalb Tigers to 9 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Saturday.

With the triumph, Benton moves its record to 12-8 on the year. The Cardinals host Lafayette (St. Joseph, MO) to clash with the Fighting Irish in a Class 3 District 16 game on Tuesday, October 3. The Fighting Irish come into the game with a record of 13-15. Lafayette won 6-4 in their recent non-league game against Stanberry (Stanberry, MO)

In their next game, the Tigers clash with the King City Wildkats (King City, MO) in a non-league game, on Monday, October 2. DeKalb will attempt to move on its 0-15 season record. The Wildkats come into the game with a 6-7 record after their 12-2 non-league loss to Plattsburg (Plattsburg, MO).
