The Newton Cardinals topped the host Lynnville-Sully Hawks volleyball team by a score of 2-0 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Cardinals now have a 13-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont for a non-league test on Saturday, September 30. Newton will confront a Rockets team coming off a 3-0 league win over Albia (Albia, IA). The Rockets record now stands at 12-6.

The Hawks (12-9) will now prepare for their test against Sigourney (Sigourney, IA). The Savages enter the South Iowa Cedar test with a 10-5 record. In their last test, Sigourney gained a win over Montezuma (Montezuma, IA), 3-1, in a league test.
