Lake Balboa College Prep Cougars (Lake Balboa, CA) followers left the game satisfied Monday as they saw their volleyball squad edge the host Valor Academy (Van Nuys, CA), 3-2 in a league test.
With the win, Lake Balboa College Prep advances its record to 3-8 on the season. The Cougars travel to Sun Valley Magnet (Sun Valley, CA) to face the Pioneers in a Central Valley test on Friday, October 4. The Pioneers go into the test with a record of 8-9.

Match Summary
The LBCP Cougars entered First Place Sports Complex determined to improve on their earlier 3 & out loss to Valor Academy. Set one went to the Cougars. The cat fight was on! A crestfallen Valor Academy team was downed much more easily in set 2 giving Lake Balboa a commanding 2-0 advantage but in set 3 the Cougars went flat as the Lions won convincingly. Set 4 was another hammer & tongs affair with the Lions stubbornly refusing to give up the lead giving Valor a crucial win to make the match go 5. To borrow a line from the Talking Heads, "This ain't no party, this ain't no disco!" It was ON for game 5! The teams traded points. It was 9-9 then 11-11 before Lake Balboa hit the gas to win 15-11. Darla Wiltz was blazing away with 6 kills & 9 aces. Molly Yeagley had 7 kills with 4 aces but also put up 13 digs. Maneh Parsadanyan had 7 aces, 16 digs, & 13 assists. 5 aces for Athena Orujyan, 5 kills for Alice Moussiesse, & 4 kills for Tamara Santiago rounded out the Cougar stat highlights.
