In Tuesday's league outing, the visiting Effingham Hearts soccer squad scored a tight 2-1 win over the Mattoon Greenwave.

The Hearts (15-1) will now prepare for their outing against Hillsboro (Hillsboro, IL). The Hiltoppers enter the non-league test with a 13-3 record. In their last test, Hillsboro edged Wesclin (Trenton, IL), 5-0, in a non-league test.

The Greenwave now sport a 8-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Newton for a non-league test on Friday, October 3. Mattoon will clash with a Eagles team coming off a 2-2 non-league Teutopolis (Teutopolis, IL). The Eagles record now stands at 13-2.
