In Tuesday's league challenge, the visiting Stayton Eagles volleyball team scored a 3-1 triumph over the Newport Cubs.

The Eagles (4-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Sweet Home (Sweet Home, OR). The Huskies come into the 4A Oregon West challenge with a 9-6 record. In their last challenge, Sweet Home beat North Marion (Aurora, OR), 3-1, in a league challenge.

Next, the Cubs meet the Cascade Cougars (Turner, OR) in a 4A Oregon West challenge, on Thursday, October 2. Newport will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 9-4 record after their 3-1 league win over Philomath (Philomath, OR).
