In Wednesday's non-league challenge, the host Hickory Red Tornadoes volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the McDowell Titans.
The Red Tornadoes (6-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Statesville (Statesville, NC). The Greyhounds come into the Western Foothills 3A challenge with a 0-3 record. In their last challenge, Statesville lost by St. Stephens (Hickory, NC), 3-0, in a league challenge.
Next, the Titans play the North Buncombe Black Hawks (Weaverville, NC) in a The Mountain 3A/4A challenge, on Thursday, September 5. McDowell will attempt to upgrade on its 1-7 season record. The Black Hawks come into the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 3-0 league loss to T.C. Roberson (Asheville, NC).
