Fans at Thursday's non-league contest between the West Point Pointers (West Point, VA) and the host Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA), observed West Point's volleyball team top Essex by a count of 2-0.

The Pointers (2-1) will now prepare for their contest against Middlesex (Saluda, VA). The Chargers go into the non-league battle with a 2-0 record. In their last battle, Middlesex achieved victory over Rappahannock (Warsaw, VA), 2-1, in a non-league battle.

The Trojans now own a 1-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Surry County for a non-league battle on Monday, September 8. Essex will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Cumberland (Cumberland, VA). The Cougars record now stands at 0-2.
