Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL) fans went home in high spirits Thursday as they observed their soccer squad triumph over the visiting Orion/Sherrard United (Orion, IL), 9-0 in a league outing.

The Trojans (7-1) will now prepare for their outing against Earlville (Earlville, IL). The Red Raiders go into the non-league outing with a 1-4 record. In their last outing, Earlville was overwhelmed by Serena (Serena, IL), 6-2, in a league test.

The United now have a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Moline United for a non-league bout on Monday, September 8. Orion/Sherrard will play a Panthers squad coming off a 4-1 non-league loss to Washington (Washington, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 7-1.
