In Thursday's league challenge, the host Newport Greyhounds volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the Central Cougars.

The Greyhounds (3-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Central Arkansas Christian (North Little Rock, AR). The Mustangs come into the non-league challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, Central Arkansas Christian was beaten by Episcopal (Little Rock, AR), 3-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Cougars meet the Walnut Ridge Bobcats (Walnut Ridge, AR) in a 3A 3 challenge, on Tuesday, September 9. Central will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record. The Bobcats come into the challenge with a 2-1 record after their 3-2 league win over Hoxie (Hoxie, AR).
