The West Wilkes Blackhawks volleyball team scored 3 points and restricted the visiting Starmount Rams to 2 in the Blackhawks league triumph on Thursday.

The Blackhawks now have a 3-4 record. They play next when they travel to Elkin for a Mountain Valley 2A/3A/4A outing on Tuesday, September 9. West Wilkes will play a Buckin' Elks team coming off a 3-0 league loss to North Wilkes (Hays, NC). The Buckin' Elks record now stands at 2-6.

With the loss, Starmount drops to 7-3 on the campaign. The Rams travel to East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC) to confront the Cardinals in a non-league game on Monday, September 8. The Cardinals go into the game with a record of 6-4. East Surry lost 3-1 in their recent non-league game against North Iredell (Olin, NC)
