Howell Central Spartans (St. Charles, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars (O'Fallon, MO), 8-6 in a league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 3-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mid-Buchanan for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 8. Howell Central will battle a Dragons squad coming off a 7-2 league win over Plattsburg (Plattsburg, MO). The Dragons record now stands at 6-0.

With the loss, Fort Zumwalt West falls to 3-4 on the campaign. The Jaguars host Lee's Summit West (Lee's Summit, MO) to battle the Titans in a non-league challenge on Friday, September 8. The Titans enter the challenge with a record of 5-3. Lee's Summit West lost 1-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Blue Springs (Blue Springs, MO)
