Basketball Recap: Encinal Triumphs

If Hayward wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Encinal, they should've done a better job of containing Jazzy Alcantar. The Encinal Jets blew past the Hayward Farmers 52-21 on Friday thanks in part to Alcantar, who posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Johnson, who earned no points along with nine boards and five blocks. Those five blocks gave her a new career-high.

Encinal now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Hayward, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Encinal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-34 defeat against Alameda on the 11th. As for Hayward, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Fremont on the 13th.
