Soccer Game Preview: Segerstrom vs. Whittier Christian

The Segerstrom Jaguars will venture away from home to take on the Whittier Christian Heralds at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Segerstrom is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Cabrillo a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that Segerstrom has won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Whittier Christian came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Raiders. Given the Heralds' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Raiders are ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win was the third in a row for Segerstrom, bringing their record for this year to 13-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Whittier Christian, their record now sits at 13-5.
