Basketball Preview: Lower Moreland Lions vs. Springfield Township Spartans
Lower Moreland has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Springfield Township Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lower Moreland is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in Pennsylvania (the Lions are ranked 136th, while the Spartans are ranked 300th).
Lower Moreland put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past New Hope-Solebury 60-39.
Lower Moreland relied on the efforts of Dani Brusha, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Sydney Santora, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Santora has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Mcferran, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Springfield Township took a serious blow against the Bears on Tuesday, falling 64-32. Springfield Township has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lower Moreland's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Springfield Township, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Lower Moreland strolled past the Spartans in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 76-59. Does Lower Moreland have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
