Baseball Recap: Discovery Takes a Loss

Discovery extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-11. They came up short against the Dacula Falcons, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Monday.

Sebastian Luengo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Dacula, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Dacula's side, Alex Renwick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Renwick was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Dacula let Damien Washington and Logan Peralta run wild. Washington went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Peralta went 4-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one double. Washington has become a key player for Dacula: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Reid Dzikowski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Discovery and Dacula could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Titans will face off against Mill Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (357 vs. 69). Meanwhile, Dacula (ranked 263rd) will meet North Gwinnett (ranked 19th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
