Basketball Recap: Westridge Comes Up Short

Westridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the Rio Hondo Prep Kares 61-14. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Kares from their previous meeting back in January.

TARA RILEY was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards for Rio Hondo Prep. That makes it four consecutive games in which RILEY has scored at least a third of Rio Hondo Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of ALLIE SCOTT, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points and four steals.

Westridge's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Rio Hondo Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

After both having extra time off, Westridge and San Gabriel will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Rio Hondo Prep and South El Monte will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
