Softball Recap: Pueblo West's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Pueblo West dropped down to 18-7 on Friday, ending the team's eight-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Erie Tigers, falling 16-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Cyclones were not able to get on the board.

Pueblo West saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbi Bay, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

As for Erie, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by ten runs or more this season.

On Erie's side, Sophee Horovitz looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Horovitz has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydnie Snook, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Tafoya, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI.

Pueblo West has already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Cherry Creek on the 17th. As for Erie, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Horizon on the 24th.
