Softball Game Preview: Sprayberry Yellow Jackets vs. Blessed Trinity Titans

The Sprayberry Yellow Jackets will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Blessed Trinity Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Kell hit Sprayberry with a seven-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellow Jackets came up short against the Longhorns, falling 11-3. The Yellow Jackets have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Jordan Simpson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Blessed Trinity hadn't done well against Marist recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Titans walked away with an 11-8 win over the War Eagles. The game was the first time the Titans have beaten the War Eagles on their field since August 10, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Chelsea Lewis, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Spak, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Blessed Trinity has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.0 runs this season. As for Sprayberry, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Sprayberry's way against Blessed Trinity in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, as Sprayberry made off with an 18-1 win. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
