Basketball Recap: Santa Monica Takes a Loss

After flying high against Centennial last Thursday, Santa Monica came back down to earth. The Santa Monica Vikings fell to the Lawndale Cardinals 48-43. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-40 two weeks ago.

Lawndale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kalani Pearson out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Pearson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Telayia Fuller was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Santa Monica's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Lawndale, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Santa Monica didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-52 victory against Leuzinger on the 5th. As for Lawndale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-51 defeat against Culver City on the 5th.
