Basketball Game Preview: Sun Valley Vanguards vs. Renaissance Academy Knights

The Sun Valley Vanguards will head out to face off against the Renaissance Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Renaissance Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sun Valley, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, Sun Valley beat Pottsgrove 40-29. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vanguards.

Meanwhile, Renaissance Academy ended up a good deal behind Upper Darby on Saturday and lost 49-32. The Knights were down 44-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Sun Valley will have to contain Brilan Biesecker as she made an impact in Renaissance Academy's last game. She went 6 of 13 en route to 17 points and three steals. Biesecker continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kasira Barber, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and five blocks.

Sun Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Renaissance Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Sun Valley against Renaissance Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, as the team secured a 61-31 win. In that game, Sun Valley amassed a halftime lead of 36-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
