Basketball Game Recap: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Desert Christian Knights

The Vasquez Mustangs were the 32-25 winner over the Desert Christian Knights when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Vasquez received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 32-18 to Desert Christian. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Vasquez has scored all season.

Desert Christian found their leader in underclassman Makenzie Duffee, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Corynn Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Vasquez and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Desert Christian, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Vasquez will head out on the road to face off against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Palmdale Aerospace Academy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Desert Christian will take on Lancaster Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lancaster Baptist's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Desert Christian's offense will have their work cut out for Desert Christian.
