Recap: Jamestown Muskies vs. Kennedy Catholic

The Jamestown Muskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Kennedy Catholic at home and fell 85-28. Jamestown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-12.

Despite the loss, Jamestown saw an underclassman step up: Alayna Cadman scored 18 points. That was a full 64.3% of Jamestown's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivy Riley, who scored six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layke Fields, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Fields hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Bella Magestro was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.

Jamestown has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Kennedy Catholic, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Jamestown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kennedy Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Commodore Perry at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Commodore Perry comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 14 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
